Drag and drop the .csv file you wish to import to the area highlighted in the screenshot below. Or, click the icon to upload the .csv file. Be sure to use the file format UTF-8 (Comma-delimited).<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1380\" title=\"Start CRM contacts import\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/import-contacts-upload-csv-file.png\" alt=\"Select or drag and drop your csv file to start import of contacts into the CRM \" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 24px 0;\"><\/div>\n<h2>Step 3<\/h2>\n<h2>Preview your Import data<\/h2>\n<p>The subsequent screen will display a preview of the <strong>first 100<\/strong> contacts from the CSV file that you are importing. In case the first row of the file that you are importing contains header data, remember to mark the checkbox highlighted in the screenshot below.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1381\" title=\"Imported contacts preview\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/preview-imported-csv-file.png\" alt=\"Preview of imported contacts from your csv file\" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 20px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p>Click <strong>Continue<\/strong> to proceed with the import.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1382 size-full\" title=\"Continue contacts import\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/contacts-import-continue.png\" alt=\"Click continue if your uploaded csv file looks ok\" width=\"476\" height=\"212\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 20px 0;\"><\/div>\n<h2>Step 4<\/h2>\n<h2>Map the Imported Data to appropriate CRM columns<\/h2>\n<p>On the <strong>Mapping<\/strong> screen, you will be prompted to map the columns in your import file to the relevant field in the MainBrainer CRM. The entries under the heading <strong>Column Name<\/strong> represent the columns in your import file. The entries under the heading <strong>Map to field<\/strong> represent the fields available in the MainBrainer CRM.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1383\" title=\"CRM data mapping\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/map-imported-csv-crm-fields.png\" alt=\"Choose what CRM field you would like to map your data to\" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 20px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p>Now, you need to specify which columns in your import file correspond to the relevant field in the MainBrainer CRM. To do that, use the dropdown menu under the heading <strong>Map to Field<\/strong> <em>(as highlighted in the screenshot above)<\/em>. The dropdown menu will display all the predefined CRM fields available for mapping. In case you wish to define a new custom field to map the field to, click the <strong>Create custom field&nbsp;<\/strong>button to <a href=\"\/hc\/en_GB\/crm\/manage\/create-custom-fields\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">create a new custom field<\/a>. If you wish to skip the import of any column, use the option <strong>Don&#8217;t import this column<\/strong> in the dropdown menu.<\/p>\n<p>If there are multiple columns of data in your import file that you do not want to import, you can skip mapping those fields and mark the checkbox <strong>Do not import data in unmapped fields<\/strong> <em>(as highlighted in the screenshot below)<\/em> to skip their import.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1384\" title=\"CRM unmapped fields\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/dont-import-contacts-unmapped-fields.png\" alt=\"Do not import contacts in unmapped fields into crm\" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 20px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p>Click <strong>Continue<\/strong> to proceed.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1385 size-full\" title=\"CRM import continue button\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/finished-mapping-continue.png\" alt=\"Click continue when finished with mapping all fields \" width=\"476\" height=\"212\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 20px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p>If you map the Email address\/mobile number field, you will also need to specify the respective opt-in\/opt-out status. In case you don&#8217;t, you will be prompted to do so on the next screen.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"elevio-box-success\"><p>By default, the values for the opt-in status fields (i.e., the fields &#8211; SMS Marketing and Email Marketing) need to be passed as:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li><strong>True\/Yes<\/strong> for contacts who have opted in, and<\/li>\n<li><strong>False\/No<\/strong> for contacts who have opted out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"elevio-box-info\"><p><strong>Note:<\/strong> We understand that the data you wish to import might contain the opt-in status with different terminology, for example, <strong>OptIn<\/strong> for contacts who have opted in and <strong>OptOut<\/strong> for those who have opted out. In such cases, you can <a href=\"\/hc\/en_GB\/crm\/contact-import\/custom-opt-in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">edit the field settings of the CRM&#8217;s opt-in status fields in accordance with your data.<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div style=\"padding: 20px 0;\"><\/div>\n<h2>Step 5<\/h2>\n<h2>Specify the Import rules<\/h2>\n<p>On the subsequent <strong>Import Rules<\/strong> screen, you&#8217;ll need to specify the import rules, i.e. directions on how you would like to identify and handle duplicates.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1388\" title=\"Choose key for duplicates\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/import-rules-master-data.png\" alt=\"Contact import, primary and secondary key for finding duplicates\" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 20px 0;\"><\/div>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>\n<h4>Use my Uploaded File as the Master Data<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\">Check the box highlighted in the following screenshot if you want to treat the file being imported as the master data. If you do so, any duplicate data in the CRM will be updated with the imported data.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1389\" title=\"CRM import rules\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/import-rules-master-data-file.png\" alt=\"During import, overwrite duplicates or keep existing data as master data\" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 20px 0;\"><\/div>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>\n<h4>Use my Existing Data as the Master Data<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\">Check the following highlighted box if you want to treat the pre-existing data in the CRM as the master data. If you do so, any duplicate data in the import file will not be updated in the CRM. New data fields if any <em>(that is, the fields which previously did not contain any data in the CRM)<\/em> will be added to the CRM.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1390\" title=\"Import rules data\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/import-rules-data.png\" alt=\"Rules for importing a file as the master data to the CRM\" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 20px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p>Next, you&#8217;ll need to specify the field(s) you wish to use as primary and secondary keys to identify duplicates during the import.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1391\" title=\"CRM import keys\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/crm-import-keys.png\" alt=\"Rules for identifying duplicates when importing to crm\" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 20px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Primary key<\/strong> &#8211; The field chosen as the Primary key will be used to identify if a record is a duplicate at the time of import. Use the drop-down menu to select <strong>Email Address<\/strong>, <strong>Mobile Number<\/strong>,<strong>&nbsp;or System ID&nbsp;<\/strong>as the primary key for the import. You can also select<strong>&nbsp;No identifying field<\/strong> if you wish to import the data as it is without checking for duplicates. It is mandatory to make a selection to execute an import.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Secondary key<\/strong> &#8211; You may also specify a secondary key for determining duplicate entries. In case you specify a secondary key, it will be used for determining duplicates if no matches are found with the primary key.<\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>Continue<\/strong> to proceed.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1392 size-full\" title=\"CRM import continue button\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/crm-import-keys-continue.png\" alt=\"Continue with crm import\" width=\"538\" height=\"264\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 24px 0;\"><\/div>\n<h2>Step 6<\/h2>\n<h2>Accept Compliance Conditions<\/h2>\n<p>On the <strong>Compliance<\/strong> screen, you need to confirm that you have read and understood the GDPR and TCPA regulations for sending SMS and Emails to people in the EU and the USA.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 14px 0;\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1393\" title=\"CRM import compliance legislation\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mainbrainer.com\/hc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/compliance-contact-import.png\" alt=\"Import to CRM, Compliance legislation\" width=\"640\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 24px 0;\"><\/div>\n<h2>Step 7<\/h2>\n<h2>Review Import Settings<\/h2>\n<p>The next screen will summarise all the settings you have chosen for the import.
